Formula:C5H12O
Application:
Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE)is almost exclusively used as an anti-knocking agent to increase its octane rating in fuel for gasoline engines. It is one of a group of chemicals commonly known as oxygenates because they raise the oxygen content of gasoline. MTBE is also applied in Bio-analytical technology for medicinal extraction from biological samples.
